Getting Clean Energy Built: How Resource Planning Decisions Are Made

We'll be joined by Dr. Brent Nelson of Ascend Analytics, who will provide an orientation to US power markets and regulatory processes, explaining how decisions about our electricity supply are made and who makes them. We'll discuss the implications of load growth (including from datacenters but also from other drivers of electrification) and how the electricity system gets funded and paid for. |

Celebrate 30 years of clean energy progress at our anniversary celebration this fall at the beautiful Retreat at Solterra in Lakewood on Sunday, September 27th, from 1-6 PM! The event will be more casual, with no formal keynote speakers scheduled. Our goal is to reconnect, re-energize, and power ahead toward a 100% renewable energy Colorado. Dancing with Deadpool: The 27-year-long Colorado River CrisisThursday, October 22 at 7:00 PM | Hybrid Event
Since 2000, the Colorado River has lost 20% of its annual flow, with higher temperatures and precipitation declines to blame. Up to half of this loss has been attributed to human-caused warming. Lakes Powell and Mead have lost two-thirds of their volume, are at unprecedented low levels and are nearing deadpool. How did we get here? What river flows and climate might we expect going forward? What solutions might work? Bradley H. Udall, Senior Water and Climate Research Scientist / Scholar at Colorado State University’s Colorado Water Center, joins us to take a deeper look at the issues.
