Join MDCRES this January for a presentation that will point the way for any homeowner to take on their own energy efficiency projects in 2018.
By day, Matt Young is a materials researcher at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. However, being in the renewable field was no guarantee for success on his home projects. Matt spent a lot of time learning by doing. When he set out to research a rooftop solar hot water system for his 1962 house, he had no idea he was taking the first step to a net zero home. Matt’s story will show how he navigated energy challenges such as heating, generation, and insulating a basement. By keeping track of data along the way, he recently found that he had achieved Net Zero.
