The U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon challenges collegiate teams to design, build leading-edge net-zero houses on a central site, ultimately presenting them to tens of thousands of visitors in Denver from October 5-15, 2017. Students collaborate with industry leaders to develop unique solutions for the residential market, integrating new technologies and innovative controls in a controlled environment.
Joe Simon, a former student team leader and current competition manager for the Department of Energy, will describe past innovations, sneak previews of the Solar Decathlon team houses, and examples that this hands-on, design-build, real-life project leads to more successful and collaborative young professionals who will help transform our energy future.
