Where the
Future Takes Root

An entire city block
(2.7 acres) at 2500 Lawrence Street in downtown Denver is
being transformed into a cutting-edge sustainability park
through a partnership of the Colorado Renewable Energy
Society (CRES), Denver Housing Authority (DHA) and Urban
Farmers Collaborative. The park will serve as a
demonstration and testing site for innovative renewable
energy, green building, and urban farm installations.

What is a sustainability
park? A unique initiative, collaboratively designed, to reach an
international audience with a vision and blueprint for healthy
communities and sustainable development.
Why is a sustainability park
important? The park creates a coordinated effort to analyze,
communicate, educate and facilitate the benefits of sustainable
development and green technologies.
How will the park benefit
the community and region? Partnering with dedicated
and knowledgeable organizations allows the park to feature, test and
demonstrate many programs on topics such as:

Renewable Energy solar,
geothermal, micro-wind turbines, passive design, metering and smart
grid

Green Building Technologies
passive design, energy and water efficiency, materials and
resources

Urban Farming and
Xeriscaping local food production, community nutrition education,
farmers market

Green Job Training
work
with community colleges and other workforce development entities and
nonprofits to educate and train future employees

Transportation
Alternatives plug-in electric car stations, bike share kiosk, bus
stop and schedules
