CRES 2005 Renewable Energy in Buildings Award Winners

Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins becomes the first LEED-certified high school in Colorado

 

The Colorado Renewable Energy Society recognizes four teams of professionals and building owners for their creative use of renewable energy in recent construction. The 2005 Renewable Energy in Buildings Awards presents four winning categories for buildings in Colorado. Click on the links to see photos and detailed information:
 

Institutional: Fossil Ridge High School, Fort Collins

Commercial: Snowmass Golf Clubhouse

Residential: Missouri Heights Residence, Carbondale

Retrofit: Passive Solar Pop-Top Retrofit, Boulder

The winning entries in the institutional and commercial categories for 2005 both certified their buildings with the U.S. Green Buildings Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED).

LEED is a rating system that evaluates environmental performance from a whole-building perspective. LEED-certified buildings usually consume much less energy than standard buildings and are built with materials and construction practices that have a minimal impact on the environment.
