CRES Seeks a Full-Time Executive Director

CRES is now accepting applications for a full-time Executive Director. The Executive Director will serve as the public face of CRES. He or she serves at the pleasure of the CRES Board of Directors and reports to the President of the Board. The Executive Director directs the activities of CRES to attain the highest level of mission accomplishment. CRES's purpose is to be an effective, professional organization advocating for sustainable energy development in Colorado. The Executive Director provides non-partisan energy-related information and technical assistance to policy makers, decision makers, and the general public, interacting with these constituencies regularly. CRES’ target audiences include, but are not limited to, state legislators and officials, economic development organizations, municipalities and counties, businesses, non-profit organizations, utilities, research institutions, and universities. The Executive Director also fosters the development of regional sub-chapters of CRES.

Complete information about this opportunity is available on the CRES Web site:
www.cres-energy.org/jobs

Sheila Townsend will remain with CRES as Operations Director.

CRES Policy Committee Update & Action Alert

The CRES Policy Committee will support 2010 Colorado legislation to increase the amount of renewable energy developed in our state. Discussions about CRES’s exact legislative priorities for the session are ongoing in the Committee. To bring an issue before the Policy Committee, contact either of the committee’s Co-Chairs:

Becky English
beckyrep@gmail.com

or

Tom Corlett
tcassoc@att.net

Are your local codes part of the solution?

The Policy Committee encourages CRES members throughout Colorado
to work to actively improve their local codes for
(a) increasing required levels of energy efficiency, and
(b) enabling increased renewable energy development of all appropriate types and scales.

THIS WEEK, the Denver Planning Board & City Council will hold two joint "Listening Sessions" to hear public comments about the new zoning code. Please attend if you can to deliver brief comments (up to three minutes) in support of renewable energy, energy efficiency, or simply codifying “Passive Solar Access (which mandates siting that allows daylight into south-facing first floor windows).” “Solar Access” for rooftops needs to be codified as well in order to guarantee that properties have the sunshine necessary for solar PV and solar thermal installations.

Listening Session 1
Wednesday, November 18
5:30 - 8:30 PM
(Sign up to speak from 5:00 - 5:30 PM)

Listening Session 2
Thursday, November 19
1:00 - 4:00 PM
(Sign up to speak from 12:00 - 12:30 PM)

Both sessions will be held at the
Wellington E. Webb Building
201 West Colfax Ave., Room 4F6/4G2

CRES Supports the Renewable Energy 401(k)
and the Freedom to Choose Campaign

In January 2010, the Colorado State Senate will introduce a resolution encouraging every company in Colorado to add a publicly traded Renewable Energy Sector Fund to its employee 401(k) and other Defined Contribution plans. Increased investment in Colorado’s Clean Energy Economy will create thousands of new clean energy jobs and lower the cost of energy. Add a Renewable Energy Fund to your corporate 401(k) plan and gain national media exposure at the January Colorado Senate Press Conference!

You can find out more about this effort on Wednesday, December 9, 1:00 – 4:00 PM at the State Capitol, Senate Briefing Room 356.
www.cres-energy.org/events  > December 9 / 1:00 PM

Learn about opportunities for your company; follow two case studies (including Vestas Colorado), find out how to add a Renewable Energy Sector Fund to your employee 401(k), 403(b), and other direct contribution plans. Provide feedback on upcoming Colorado Senate Resolution.

Speakers will include
Resolution Sponsor Senator Linda Newell,
Colorado Senate President Brandon Shaffer,
Denise Kay, Society for Human Resource Management,
South Metro Chamber of Commerce Renewable Energy Task Force,
401(k) plan providers and more.

Make sure you and your HR Director are in attendance!

CRES Annual Meeting, Party, and Silent Auction
February 26 in Denver!

The 2010 CRES Annual Meeting and Party will take place on Friday, February 26, at the Colorado History Museum, 1300 Broadway in Downtown Denver. This venue was chosen due to its central location in Denver, and to celebrate the unique character of Colorado’s past.

CRES invites you to be a part of the renewable energy movement in Colorado by donating an item to our silent auction for this event. Your donations support our annual educational events throughout the state, including the Colorado Renewable Energy Conference and the Tour of Solar Homes. Donations from last year’s fundraiser enhanced these and other educational activities in Colorado.

If you don’t have an item or can’t attend the event but would like to help anyway, then please consider donating $25 or the amount of your choice to CRES.

Please contact CRES if you would like to donate to this effort:
