http://www.coseia.org/jobs/sr-program-director.html

Established in 1989, the Colorado Solar Energy Industries Association (COSEIA) is the award-winning nonprofit association that is leading Colorado’s solar industry. Our mission is to expand solar markets and generate jobs and prosperity for the people of Colorado. As the voice of the solar industry in Colorado, we represent hundreds of solar business members. Together we work to advance solar policy, remove market barriers, highlight emerging trends, and promote outreach & education.

Solar is one of the most exciting industries in America, generating about 40% annual growth in the last decade, and well positioned for future growth. Use your skills and experience to advance innovative programs to strengthen Colorado’s role as a national leader in solar energy.

Overview:

COSEIA seeks an experienced Senior Program Director who will lead development and implementation of an innovative new program to help cities and counties become solar friendly communities. This is a high-profile leadership role, collaborating with a broad range of stakeholders to help define key success factors that make a community solar friendly, as well as developing educational materials, conducting regional trainings, building an online toolkit of resources, and creating an effective recognition program. The goal is to develop this solar friendly community program so that it can be efficiently scaled up statewide and then nationally.

Funded primarily through a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy, this is a 1-3 year staff position, with the possibility of transitioning to a more permanent full-time role, depending on performance and resources. Starting salary expected to be in the $50s-60s, based on experience and qualifications.

May be required to work evenings and weekends on occasion and as needed. Travel outside Colorado is not anticipated during the first year, though 10-20% travel could be required in future years to successfully scale up and roll out this program nationally.

Primary Responsibilities:

Oversee team of technical writers, graphic designers, videographers, web developers & others to develop online educational toolkit & technical training workshops

Plan and conduct regional educational trainings targeted to city/county building officials, elected officials, solar businesses, and others

Develop and executive appropriate public relations strategy with media, member organizations, government agencies and the public to highlight progress

Ensure full compliance with ongoing grant reporting requirements

Support team members with ongoing operations, fundraising, conference planning, industry strategy, and other areas as needed

Plus other duties as assigned;

this is a small, entrepreneurial office and each staff member wears many hats to help advance the solar industry

Must be effective diplomat -- highly professional, able to meet with local government officials, political leaders and industry executives with confidence, working to advance common goals

Demonstrate strong written and oral communications skills

Must be able to prioritize activities in a fast paced environment to successfully achieve program objectives

Must have your own vehicle to attend stakeholder meetings, as needed

A passionate desire to expand solar markets and to develop an innovative program that can truly make a difference

Candidates should apply by December 21, 2011, or sooner. Resumes will be reviewed as received. Target start date is January 2012.

One of the main economic benefits of increased energy efficiency and renewable energy are the jobs that come with them

In January 2009, the American Solar Energy Society - ASES(CRES's parent organization) released a report showing how "green jobs" in Colorado already outnumbered fossil fuel jobs by the end of 2007, and shows how the proper policies & incentives can lead to exponential growth in green jobs!

In April 2009, the Southwest Energy Efficiency Project (SWEEP) also released a report showing how increasing the efficiency of electricity, natural gas, and gasoline use could lead to as many as 11,000 new jobs in Colorado by 2025.
