RETool:
Renewable Energy Technologies Workshop
Leeds School of Business - S125 Koelbel Building
University of Colorado
Boulder
Renewable energy technologies are one of the few bright
spots in a troubled economy. Many renewable start-ups
are succeeding beyond expectations, renewable companies
are expanding and hiring, and massive amounts of federal
funds are flowing into the renewables industry.
This two-day training workshop, led by CU-Boulder faculty,
will tell you what you need to know about renewables,
including:
- Where are the opportunities in renewables?
- What are the current status, key challenges, and
likely prospects for renewable technologies?
- What are the implications of renewables for large
energy users and other organizations?
- How do I break into the renewables industry?
This workshop will focus on the critical factors that
drive the adoption of renewable energy technologies, and
will detail which technologies are likely to have immediate
impact and which may have impact further in the future.
We'll lay out the policies that promote (and inhibit)
new renewables, and provide clear and current examples
of companies – large and small – that have successfully
entered the renewables industry. At the end of the workshop,
participants will have the fundamental knowledge needed
to engage their careers and their companies in this booming
industry.

Power Lunch Lecture Series:

Friendly By Design?"
NREL
Visitors Center
15013 Denver West Parkway
Golden
Bring the sunshine in! Solar power, bio-diesel fuel and
a wood-burning heating plant powering a lean, green data-processing
machine? Almost by definition, large office buildings
are environmentally UN-friendly – over-refrigerated and
under-utilized energy hogs. What is NREL’s response? The
solutions are cutting edge, the problems are not. What
does it take to make an energy-guzzling data center an
eco-friendly one? How does that translate into your office
environment?
Participants are welcome to bring a lunch and enjoy.

ASPO
International Peak Oil Conference
Sheraton
Denver Downtown Hotel
1550 Court Place
Denver
(also available via live webcast)
This is the first conference of the Association for the
Study of Peak Oil (ASPO) to be held in Denver since 2005.
And unlike the 2005 Conference, this event will be ASPO's
international conference, drawing oil industry
and other experts from all over the world!
ASPO-USA encourages prudent energy management, constructive
community transformation, and cooperative initiatives
in an era of depleting petroleum resources.
Our tools are qualitative analysis based on facts, a
preference for independent action, and the confidence
we can make a difference. Our methods include a comprehensive
program of public education, a positive endorsement of
practical solutions, and an honest attempt to encourage
competing parties to cooperate for their mutual benefit.
APSO-USA welcomes participants from all walks of life,
income levels and ideological belief. We are united by
our concern for the potential cultural, economic and ecological
impacts of petroleum depletion. Prudent energy resource
management must include conservation and efficiency, ecologically
responsible energy production and consumption, and the
development of alternative energy resources. Petroleum
depletion will inevitably force extensive cultural change.
Of particular interest is the development of a constructive
response within our state, municipal and county infrastructure,
the implementation of a pragmatic federal agenda, and
the formation of productive partnerships between private
and public organizations. Since no nation will be able
to resolve its energy challenges without due consideration
for the energy needs of other nations, we encourage international
cooperation in the development, production and consumption
of our planet’s energy resources.
