“Climate Change: Bad News/Good News”
As we experience devastating events like Hurricane Sandy and the 2012 Colorado wildfire season, scientists report that we have now crossed a dangerous line in the global build-up of greenhouse gases. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says the amount of heat-trapping carbon dioxide in the atmosphere has topped 400 parts per million, which is widely recognized as a dangerous threshold level that could drastically worsen human-caused global warming.
Is the news all gloom and doom? Dr.Kutcher says the good news is that we are turning a corner on addressing climate change. Come hear what the latest science says, and what we can do about it.
Dr. Charles (Chuck) Kutscher is a Principal Engineer and Manager of the Thermal Systems Group at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden, Colorado. He led the production of the American Solar Energy Society report, Tackling Climate Change in the U.S., which details how energy efficiency and six renewable technologies can greatly reduce U.S. carbon emissions by 2030.

“Combining Solar Power & Heat Pumps: a New Approach to Clean Energy”
Scott Reed, the Director of Business Development at Chromasun, will speak about solar-driven cooling and heating using a combination of solar thermal collectors and absorption chilling technologies.
Scott Reed has been a renewable power development expert for the past ten years, working in solar photovoltaics & solar thermal, and heat-pump technologies. His accomplishments include the development of more than 30 MW of commercial-scale solar projects. Scott’s expertise includes creating and selling commercially attractive packages that bring project finance investors and energy users together in the mutually rewarding experience of cleaner energy at sub-utility pricing. |
