Bio-Fuels, Bio-Energy Friday,

We will discuss the
changing world of fossil fuels, the use of bio-fuels in
vehicle fleets, grants and loans for bio-fuels and
bio-energy projects, the economic development potential
for bio-fuels, algae biodiesel development, cellulosic
ethanol, jet fuel from wood waste, biomass resources in
western Colorado and the potential for co-fire biomass
with coal.
Scheduled speakers include: (Mayor of Montrose), Scott
Shine (City of Montrose), Phil von Hake, Art Hale (State
of Colorado), Alan Brown, John Gonzales, Pattie Snidow
(USDA), Debra Wilcox (Bye Energy), (USFS speaker), (NREL
speaker) and Lee Boughey (TSGT)

Geo
Regional Energy Coordinator Planning

The Governor’s Energy Office (GEO) will host a
Peer-to-Peer exchange for Community Energy Coordinators
(CEC). CEC’s are under contract with GEO, and represent
Colorado’s 52 rural and mountain counties. This workshop
will focus on policy and programs for reducing energy,
water, petroleum and waste in government operations.
GEO’s Commercial Buildings and Greening Government
Program Managers will present information in the
morning. During the afternoon session, CECs and GEO
Program staff will brainstorm specific strategies and
share successful case studies for saving energy and
money in the public sector. The workshop is open to
staff from public entities or non-profits interested in
learning about “greening government” initiatives.

Micro-Hydro
Friday,
June 18, 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM |
Colorado has substantial,
currently-untapped potential for the development of
renewable, clean and local hydropower. Topics to be
covered at the workshop will include the following: the
current status of micro-hydro in Colorado; the FERC
permitting process; support for micro-hydro available
from the Colorado Governor’s Energy Office; Federal,
state and local financial incentives for micro-hydro;
site-screening criteria for micro-hydro projects; and
case studies of recently-developed micro-hydro projects
in Colorado. The workshop will include a tour of Ouray
micro-hydro installations, including the historic Ouray
power plant, one of the nation’s oldest micro-hydro
generation plans.
Speakers will include the following:
Colorado Governor’s Energy Office; Colorado State
Senator Bruce Whitehead; San Miguel Power Association;
Delta Montrose Electric Association; Telluride Energy,
Hydrowest;
Recent micro-hydro projects forum
includes speakers from the following:
City of Ouray, City of Cortez, San Juan County
Historical Society, Coal Creek Hydro, Humphreys Hydro,
City of Aspen.

Registration fees
are refundable, less a $30 processing fee, until June 11, 2010. After
