The deadline for award entry and nomination has been extended to April 1st, 2012

One of the highlights at the annual Colorado Renewable Energy Conference (CREC) is the presentation of our CRES awards. The awards are:

1. The Larson-Notari Award,
named for two of the CRES founders, recognizes individuals or groups who have made significant contributions to the field of renewable energy, energy efficiency, and sustainable buildings. The Board selects the recipient(s) from nominations submitted by CRES members, and recommended by the Awards Committee. The recipients must live in Colorado but do not have to be CRES members.

2. The Volunteer of the Year Award
recognizes a CRES member or group who has/have volunteered extraordinary amounts of time and effort, and made significant contributions to the advancement of the CRES mission. 3. Building Awards.
These awards are for buildings that effectively incorporate renewable energy and energy conservation features. Traditionally one award is presented for residential buildings and one for non- residential. Residential buildings are generally single-family but could include multi-family. The non-residential category includes commercial or institutional buildings. Either category can be new construction or retrofit. The Awards Committee picks these recipients.

2012 Renewable Energy and Sustainable Design in Buildings Awards for Architects, Contractors, Owners and Builders

The awards aim to encourage the use of renewable energy and sustainable design strategies or technologies. These include passive solar, photovoltaics, solar thermal water or space heating, wind power, geothermal heating and cooling, daylighting, natural ventilation or others.

Awards will be presented at the 2012 Colorado Renewable Energy Conference Award Dinner, which will be held in conjunction this year with the World Renewable Energy Forum, May 13-17, 2012, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver.

Media releases about the award winners will be distributed to major state and local media.

Photos of and information about the award winners will be featured on the CRES web site.

If you know of a building that incorporates renewable energy and/or sustainable
design, even if you are not directly involved, please tell us about the building
and why you think it deserves to be recognized, and give us contact information
for the owner or designer, so we can get more information.
