Colorado Renewable Energy SociEty 2011 AWARDs Announced
Individual and Renewable Energy in Buildings Winners
Denver, May 13, 2011—The
Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES) today announced the winners of
its 2011 Renewable Energy in Buildings Awards and Individual Awards
programs; including the Larson-Notari Award and Volunteer of the Year
Award. The CRES awards
program is one of many on going initiatives to recognize and encourage
organizations and individuals contributions to Colorado’s growing
renewable energy economy.
The prestigious building awards, now in its twelfth year, are presented to
builders, building owners, and architects to acknowledge their
incorporation of renewable energy and energy efficiency in newly
constructed buildings. The awards consist of four categories commercial,
institutional, multi-family residential and single-family residential.
Both winners in the institutional and commercial categories this year have
certified their buildings with the U.S. Green Buildings Council’s
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED). LEED is a rating
system that evaluates environmental performance from a whole-building
perspective. LEED buildings usually consume much less energy and are built
with materials and construction practices that have a minimal impact on
the environment than standard buildings.

Also, two individual awards will be given. The Larson-Notari Award,
now in its seventh year, recognizes an individual for distinguished
service and exemplary contributions to the field of renewable energy and
the Volunteer of the Year Award, in its ninth year, which honors a CRES
member who has volunteered extraordinary amounts of time and effort and
made significant contributions to the betterment of CRES and its causes.

helped fuel the state’s leadership in the new energy economy,” said Tony
Frank, CRES Executive Director. “CRES is proud to honor this year’s award
winners who are paving the way to a promising economic future, creating
new jobs, protecting our environment and increasing our energy security.”
Recipients will receive their awards at the annual Awards Dinner, taking
place Friday evening, June 3 as part of the
Colorado Renewable Energy Conference
(CREC) held in Fort Collins June 2-4, 2011. Themed “Local Action—Global
Solutions,” CREC will feature over 50 sessions and 70 speakers on
renewable energy, sustainable building and technologies as well as
environmental science by foremost experts from throughout Colorado and
across the nation.

(CREC) Themed “Local Action—Global Solutions,” CREC 2011 will be held in Fort Collins June 2-4, 2011.
