Governor’s E85 Coalition Backs Ethanol
October 23, 2006
The Colorado Governor’s Office of Energy Management
and Conservation (OEMC) announced in late September that it has set
a goal to double the number of E85 stations in Colorado from 10 to
20 in 2007. The OEMC made the announcement September 21at the
opening of a new E85 and biodiesel pump at the Hill Petroleum
Sinclair Oil Station in Arvada.
Colorado Governor Bill Owens said at the opening,
“These cleaner burning fuels stimulate economic development for our
rural communities and help promote energy independence.” For more
about the Governor’s E85 Coalition, see the OEMC website at:

E85 is a blend of 85 percent ethanol with 15 percent
conventional gasoline. It can be used by flexible fuel vehicles that
run on ethanol, gasoline, or any combination of the two fuels.
According to the OEMC, there are more than 300,000 flexible fuel
vehicles operating on Colorado highways. And only a few of these
cars use ethanol because of the dearth of refueling stations.
E85 is considered to be a renewable alternative
transportation fuel by DOE Clean Cities, which promotes the adoption
of alternative fuels across the country. See the Clean Cities
website on Ethanol:
