Denver Voters Approve Xcel Franchise, Solar Plant

Denver voters overwhelmingly approved a 20-year
extension of the franchise agreement with Xcel Energy in the August
8 primary election. The franchise gives permission for Xcel Energy
to provide utility service to the city and to its residents and to
use infrastructure within the city to do so.
The deal includes increasing contributions to the
low-income energy assistance and a $200,000 contribution to build a
proposed solar power plant at the Denver International Airport. For
