States Change a Light for 2005
October 12, 2005
Energy Star wants to change the world one light at
a time. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) launched the annual "Energy
Star Change a Light, Change the World Campaign" on October 5, urging
U.S. consumers to change at least one light in their home with one
that carries an Energy Star label. This year governors from 29
states joined the campaign and scores of businesses, including
national partners Costco, Home Depot, and Lowes.
The EPA points out that if every home in this
country changes just one light from an old, incandescent type to a
modern, compact fluorescent, American consumers will save $600
million in energy bills. For more information, see DOE’s campaign
announcement at:

Interestingly, Xcel Energy is participating in
Minnesota but not in Colorado.
