ACTION ALERT:
PUC Meeting
Monday, April 14th, 2008
On Monday,
the Colorado Public Utilities Commission (PUC) will hold a hearing
to receive input from the public regarding Xcel Energy’s proposed
resource plan. The hearing will be held on April 14 from 5–7 p.m. at
the Xcel Services Building, 550 15th Street, in Denver.
This is a
rare opportunity for the public to comment on a major utility’s plan
for meeting future electricity demand. Xcel’s plan also includes
provisions for reducing carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. As a result,
it is logical to testify on subjects such as global warming and the
energy technologies that do not pose a greenhouse-gas hazard.
Speakers may
buttress their testimony by bringing articles and reports for
commission consideration. Subjects might include global warming,
mercury poisoning, rising coal costs, declining costs of
concentrating solar power and other renewable energy technologies,
watershed acidification, cooling water requirements, Colorado’s
renewable resource base, etc.
If you do not
wish to speak, come anyway. Learn from speakers, show your support
for this subject matter, and give Xcel and the PUC a virtual pat on
the back for going to the public for input and added information on
these very important topics.
You can find
additional information about the PUC proceeding related to Monday’s
hearing by searching for Docket 07A-447E on the PUC website:
