About the
COLORADO
RENEWABLE
ENERGY SOCIETY
The Colorado Renewable
Energy Society (CRES) is a nonprofit membership organization that
works to increase awareness of the economic and environmental benefits
of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and serves as a
leading resource in providing renewable energy information to the
people of Colorado to support the sensible adoption of these technologies by Colorado businesses and consumers.
CRES holds regular educational events throughout the state. It holds the
Colorado Renewable Energy Conference each summer that summarizes
activities and new opportunities in Colorado and the West. It annually awards Colorado builders,
architects, engineers, and building owners for innovative use of
renewable energy in their buildings. And it organizes the
Colorado Tour
of Solar Homes the first weekend in October when thousands of homeowners
visit solar homes in their towns and neighborhoods and learn about the
benefits of solar energy.
CRES publishes a monthly newsletter,
CRES News, and
CRES Clips, a
monthly email and online source of information on renewable energy
events and news items.
CRES is the Colorado chapter of the
American Solar Energy Society and is organized into
regional chapters that hold their
own educational meetings and manage local solar homes tours in October.
CRES published its
CRES 2006 Strategic Plan in June 2006, which outlines
its goals for advancing renewable energy and energy efficiency in
Colorado as well as organizational growth. The details of how to carry
out the plan are developed by CRES’ committees.
