About the
COLORADO RENEWABLE
ENERGY SOCIETY

Who We Are

The Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES) is a nonprofit membership organization that works to increase awareness of the economic and environmental benefits of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and serves as a leading resource in providing renewable energy information to the people of Colorado to support the sensible adoption of these technologies by Colorado businesses and consumers.

CRES is the Colorado chapter of the American Solar Energy Society and is organized into regional chapters that hold their own educational meetings and manage local solar homes tours in October.

What We Do

CRES conducts monthly meetings and webcasts on renewable energy and energy efficiency. It holds the Colorado Renewable Energy Conference each summer that highlights activities and new opportunities in Colorado and the West. It annually awards Colorado builders, architects, engineers, and building owners for innovative use of renewable energy in their buildings. And it organizes the Colorado Tour of Solar Homes the first weekend in October when thousands of homeowners visit solar homes in their towns and neighborhoods and learn about the benefits of solar energy. The CRES Speakers Bureau provides expert speakers to educational, civic and business groups at their location.

CRES publishes a monthly newsletter, CRES News, and CRES Clips, a monthly email and online source of information on renewable energy events and news items.

CRES - What We Stand For

The mission of CRES is to inspire an era of clean energy innovation, speeding the transition to a sustainable energy economy in Colorado by advancing education, policy and economic development.

In support of Colorado's New Energy Economy, CRES advocates policies and technologies to increase the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency. We believe that renewable energy should supply a steadily increasing percentage of Colorado's energy needs.

CRES published its Strategic Plan in June 2006, which outlines its goals for advancing renewable energy and energy efficiency in Colorado as well as organizational growth. The details of how to carry out the plan are developed by CRES’ committees.
