About the
COLORADO RENEWABLE
ENERGY SOCIETY

The Colorado Renewable Energy Society (CRES) is a nonprofit membership organization that works for the sensible adoption of cost-effective energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies by Colorado businesses and consumers.

CRES holds regular educational events throughout the state. It holds the Colorado Renewable Energy Conference each summer that summarizes activities and new opportunities in Colorado and the West. It annually awards Colorado builders, architects, engineers, and building owners for innovative use of renewable energy in their buildings. And it organizes the Colorado Tour of Solar Homes the first weekend in October when thousands of homeowners visit solar homes in their towns and neighborhoods and learn about the benefits of solar energy.

CRES is the Colorado chapter of the American Solar Energy Society and is organized into regional chapters that hold their own educational meetings and manage local solar homes tours in October.

CRES published its CRES 2005 Strategic Plan in June 2005, which outlines its goals for advancing renewable energy and energy efficiency in Colorado as well as organizational growth. The details of how to carry out the plan are developed by CRES’ committees. Read the plan online (PDF).
